Producing some of the North Burnett's Best Beef!

  • Land: 2,189 ha (5,409 acres)

Mount Margaret situated in the Coominglah district has been held by the Porter Family for over 60 years with Portion 44 purchased in January 1939 and the adjoining Portion 36 added in 1946.

This North Burnett Grazing property with a freehold area of 5,400 acres is situated 40 kilometres north west of Monto and 64 kilometres south east of Biloela and is 6 kilometres off the Burnett Highway.

Mount Margaret with a mixture of breeding and sweet fattening country property has produced some of the finest Hereford cattle in the North Burnett and features Cattle Creek, Calquer Creek and Chinaman Creek traversing the property.

Timbers are mainly silverleaf ironbark and bloodwood, with areas of box, good stands of narrowleaf ironbark and some patches of spotted gum around Mount Margaret. Blue gum, appletree and Morton Bay ash are along the watercourses.

Soils are decomposed granites and heavy blacks whilst pastures comprise mainly native black spear and Burnett blue grass with some buffel along Cattle Creek.

Mount Margaret features very good underground water supplies with 3 of the bores tested at 2,000, - 3,000 and 5,000 gallons per hour respectively. An irrigation bore on Cattle Creek equipped with an electric 10hp motor and pump has previously been used for hay production.

Mount Margaret is subdivided into 7 main paddocks plus the holding paddocks. Fencing is generally in good condition with a mixture of new and original fences along the boundaries. 7 kilometres of new 4 barb wooden post fence has been recently constructed.

The cattle yards and cooler pens are of timber construction and include a plunge dip, calf cradle and head bale. Improvements include the besser block residence and numerous hay, machinery and storage sheds.

Offered as a going concern the quality Hereford herd and an extensive list of plant is included in the sale.

Properties in the Coominglah district are rarely offered and Mount Margaret is offered for sale to finalise the Estate of Mrs. S G Porter and creates the opportunity to purchase this productive grazing property with great market access to abattoirs at Biloela and saleyards at Monto and Biloela.

Arrange your inspection of Mount Margaret by contacting Mark Simpson at Ray White Rural Biloela.
